Twist and Shout with Fall 14's Sixties Throwback

Tell the cooler weather to hit the road with Fall 2014's fun reprisal of retro mode.

London's Carnaby Street in the sixties and the style that became synonymous with the locale has always been a mainstay for style inspiration. This season Gucci, Valentino and Louis Vuitton trotted out collections headily interpreting the era. Borrow from the sixties by choosing geometric prints in retro shades of pink, orange and tawny brown, or block together pastel brights and coloured tweeds. Keep the hemlines short and go for A-Line shapes to truly get into the swing of the era. The season's sweet dresses and skirts are composed from wool blended fabrics and easily transition through the cooler months when paired with thick leggings and knee length boots. Feeling game? The latest blouses, dresses and coats come outfitted in multiple shades of buttery soft leather, a beautiful contrast to knitted or woven textiles.

Accessories are essential to the sixties look. Match your boots or kitten heels to your handbag and keep your choices to black or tan. Choose leather goods with boxy proportions in keeping with the satchel styles which were popular at the time. Top up your wardrobe with a pair of cat eye frames and a psychedelic scarf to add instant va-va-voom. Lacking in scarf styling mojo? Check out the Hermès app 'Silk Knots' for interactive coaching to help you experiment.
